Introduction: The intention with each of my
writings is to call your attention to scripture in order to show you who God is, what He has done and what
he can and will do! “Lord, make it so”.

The scripture below is a
passage that has always intrigued me.
Before reading further, please put on your metaphorical 3-D glasses and
envision the words happening before your very (spiritual) eyes:
Ezekiel 37: 1-10
‘The hand of the Lord was upon me,
and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord
and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.
and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord
and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.
He led me back and forth among them,
and I saw a great many bones on the floor of
the valley,
bones that were very dry.
He asked me, “Son of man, can these
bones live?”
"I said, O Sovereign Lord, you alone
know.”
Then he said to me,
“Prophesy to these bones and say to them,
“Prophesy to these bones and say to them,
‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!
This is what the Sovereign Lord says to
these bones;
I will make breath enter you, and you
will come to life.
I will attach tendons to you and make
flesh come upon you
And cover you with skin;
I will put breath in you, and you will
come to life.
Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”
So, I prophesied as I was commanded.
And as I was prophesying, there was a noise,
a
rattling sound,
and the bones came together, bone to
bone.
I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared
on them
and skin covered them, but there was no breath
in them.
Then, he said to me: “Prophesy to the
breath; prophesy, son of man,
and say to it, This is what the Sovereign Lord
says:
Come from the four winds, O breath,
and breathe into these slain, that they
may live.”
So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath
entered them;
they came to life and stood up on their
feet—
a vast army.’
Wow! I just love the line, “… they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army”. This visual is amazing; a resurrected army whose dry bones are full of life and breath again; the very breath of the Sovereign Lord!
This passage gives us a cinematic view of
what our God can do! In any and every way, He can take what is
dead and breathe life into it once more. Our dead
dreams, our dead marriage, our dead hope, our dead hearts….even our dry, dead
country can receive the breath of life again.
Ezekiel was a prophet around
the year 597 B.C.. One of his key writings says this:
“For I will take you out of the nations;
I
will gather you from all the countries
and bring you back into your own land.
and bring you back into your own land.
I
will sprinkle clean water on you,
and you will be clean;
I will cleanse you from all your
impurities
and from all your idols.
and from all your idols.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you;
I
will remove from you your heart of stone
and give you a heart of flesh.”
Ezekiel
36: 24-26
As we understand it, these
words were fulfilled in May, 1948 when Israel became a nation again, after being
absent from the scene for 2600 years! Christians take it seriously that Israel
is God’s chosen people. Therefore America
is her ally! What does this mean for us
personally? That we serve God who is sovereign; what he says matters and what
he says goes.
Regarding the here and now:
Perhaps God has been working on American hearts, to bring us back to what is important;
to a more purposed life-style where family is front and center…where our slowed-down lives seem more peaceful…where the heart of the home now has a heart-felt
heartbeat and our lifestyle is no longer a stone cold obligation but is seen for what it is- A great Privilege.
What I do know is this: Our
near-future has been set in motion by the greatest commander the world has ever
known; our Lord God. If God can revive an
ancient, vast army, that had long lost their battle, then he can do the same
for us. When He does, may we know and recognize that He, indeed, is the Lord who commands an Army of Angels
and controls the fate of ALL.
“The Lord thunders at the head of his
army;
his forces are beyond number,
and mighty is the army that obeys his command.
The day of the lord is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?”
his forces are beyond number,
and mighty is the army that obeys his command.
The day of the lord is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?”
Joel 2:11 NIV
“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered.
“Those who are with us
are more than those who are with them.”
And Elisha prayed,
“O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.”
Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes,
And he looked and saw the hills full of
horses
and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
